Mystery Vegetable – Kohlrabi

Kitchenblind

We get a delivery of organic vegetables each week as it is quite reasonable and makes things much easier. It keeps the fruit bowl and fridge full of nice things without too much thought.

However every now and again it can stump us such as this week when we got this little mystery vegetable…

Well I was thinking what IS that?!! It’s about the size of a cricket ball and doesn’t seem to smell of much. It feels firm like a potato. I wondered if it was some kind of turnip.

However the mystery was solved when I just showed a picture of it to my father and he says it might be Kohlrabi! I have heard the name before but never seen it. There doesn’t seem that much out there about it. I quite like this article where other people are grousing about getting it in their veg box. I will have to try it this week and see.
