Shoes deserve a portrait too

Chucks

Chucks

Before I turn in for the night I thought I would quickly share a drawing I have been working on this evening. These are my old Converse that I bought in Tokyo many many years ago, before Converse became Nike, they are still just about viable as shoes although they are really more hole than shoe. These shoes have a history, they have been all over the world, they were on the cover of an EP and more recently on MTV. Go worn out shoes! Your worn out owner appreciates you.

Oh my gosh. I have a pair of chuck taylors that I got in year 10 or something (ie. they are 10 yrs old now), and they have been to Germany, England, Indonesia, Kota Kinabalu, Philippines..everywhere. My friends from high school even signed the white bits of the shoe. They aren’t famous like yours though! But they have been so loved that they are pretty much retired now – they have holes in the bottom and when I wear them when it’s raining (or if I step on dewy grass) my socks get wet :P But I don’t have the heart to throw them out!
