We followed the good tip to go to Gambetta Metro station and then walk back through the cemetery to the other side where then you have a choice of Père Lachaise Metro station or Philippe Auguste Metro (and a bathroom by the main gate). I am so glad I printed a map before going too! We were there just before the sun set and it was very atmospheric. I am glad we got out before dark though! :)
