Simon, Allison, hiki - Don't let the Macdonalds ads put any of you guys off! I guess it is good though that the Macdonalds ads are in the format of the banner held by a traditionally dressed fellow? It has not gone all plasma screen :) I recommend the sumo as a very fun thing to go and see.

Now you know A LOT more than sumo than I am! I've heard that the sumo matches (or shows?) are really entertaining and I recently became interested in going but haven't got the chance. Apparently it's hard to get tickets, that's what I heard but maybe in Tokyo that is i don't know. and yes those McDonald's ads kind of put me off too!

Oh my goodness, way to reassert those cultural traditions with the McDonald's sponsorship. I agree with Simon, its disappointing how invasive advertising can be.

Nice photos though, I like "Stay in Bed" : )

The McDonalds branding is quite sad! I'd had the impression of sumo still being quite traditional and untouched (aside from Asashōryū's trangressions)
