I put a few drops of orange blossom water on the orange in the top picture √† la Nigella in How to Eat as I happened to have orange blossom water on hand. Nice but not really worth buying orange blossom water for if you don’t already have it. Oranges are nice enough on their own.

These are some of my favourite food and drinks of this season that we have been having lately:

roast chestnuts
lebkuchen
squash of any kind just roasted or in curry
mulled wine or mulled apple juice
roast parsnips and carrots
oranges

What are your favourites?

I’d love it if you shared your mulled apple juice recipe! I wish I could get roast chestnuts in Copenhagen – last time I had them was in Berlin last October. Maybe I can make some in the oven?
My December favourites, I don’t know, I don’t think I have accepted that it’s December yet. But my food plans for this year is homemade chocolate spread, citrus liqueur (homemade limoncello, only with orange instead), truffles and roasted root vegetables, like you. Roasted anything, I suppose :)

Yours sound so good, citrus liqueur sounds amazing! I know I couldn’t be left alone in a house that had homemade chocolate spread as it would be gone right away :) For mulled apple juice I don’t do anything too fancy, I buy cloudy apple juice and then heat it gently with cloves, a few grates of nutmeg, and a cinnamon stick. Also I tend to make roast chestnuts myself in the oven, I give each one a little cut so they don’t explode and then roast them for about 30 minutes.
