The Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology re-emerged from its ¬£61 million revamp while I was away in Japan. I waited a little while before visiting so that the initial hordes would have died down, also if I am being truthful with myself I was a teeny bit reluctant as I had been a frequent visitor to its previous incarnation: where would all my favourite things be? Today on a rainy lunchtime however seemed like the prefect time to take a look… I loved it! So much more light than before, everything laid out so clearly. I had an initial look around today but fully intend to go back regularly. (I’ll note next time what the things I am taking picture of are, I had a look at the time but now can’t remember the exact details.)

Oh you’ve reminded me I need to go. I haven’t been to the re-opened Pitt Rivers either and I haven’t seen the SteamPunk exhibition at the Museum of the History of Science. Must try harder!

The creature in second picture looks amazing. Do you have any idea what it is? :)

Hello! I am not sure what it is at all, maybe it is a mythical creature? I haven’t seen anything like that before :)

Oh, next time I’m Oxford I must drop by the Ashmolean – I’m so excited it has reopened.
