I liked how the pollarded trees looked like they were punching up out of the ground.

The snow seems to bring out a happy giddy side in most here, in children and dogs especially. I think this is perhaps because we are unused to it, we might feel differently if snow came regularly and lasted for months? In me too I feel this heart swell when wading across the white spaces, not only because of the fun of it, but because also the light is changed, it is so bright even on a grey day. Somehow it puts me in mind of the works of James Turrell. The space and light gives a new vision of what pre-snow was usual and mundane. Today is glistening and new.

I think some people are snow lovers and some are not. I lived in a very cold (very, very, very) and snowy climate for six years, and I hated it. Yes, the snow is pretty when it’s falling but it gets dirty and slushy very quickly in any kind of city, then its just brutally cold and wet. And having to shovel snow on a regular basis? Kills your back. So not fun! However, many people there loved winter– winter sports like cross country skiing and ice fishing. So definitely, some people like snow, others not so much!

Even now, I loved your first photos a couple days ago of the snow starting to come down, but these all white meadows? Eh, not so much. Glad you are frolicking and having fun!

That is interesting, I know someone else who feels that way. I think also I am lucky that I live where I can walk to work :)

I grew up with a six-month winter so I should qualify for answering… Snow is always lovely. Particularly lying down on it and watching the stars. Or skiing through a valley with a bright sun above. Or on horseback through metre-high drifts.
I live in Denmark now and snow is rare so I might be slightly nostalgic, but still. The wonder doesn’t go away.

Lovely photos! I love how dogs react to snow. My dog would go crazy and run around in mad little circles, before trying to eat the snow!

I really want a dog, telling me these things makes me want one even more!

These are so lovely. You are such a great photographer! I love the little black figures. They remind me of an LS Lowry painting.

Thanks for your nice comment :) I thought of Lowry too when I was looking at them, little stick figures.

Your snow pictures are amazing. I really like how they start from a light sprinkling to full-blown!

The people punctuating the snowy landscapes look amazing. I always feel girlishly excited while stomping through snow, even though Chicago gets it constantly. Maybe because I’m originally from the South :)
