old haunts

I recently had cause to go to the library that I used to use 14+ years ago as a kid, much to my surprise it was exactly the same. Stepping through the door was an arrival back in a place that I hadn’t even thought to miss but that now was raising up so many memories. The same old shelves, carpet, and desks that must have been installed in the 70s. That public library smell, a mixture of the plastic covers and the books within. Neat displays, older folks, books on tape, crime fiction, newspapers.

I don’t know why I hadn’t thought to use it before, usually I go to the much bigger central library. The only reason I went back was because it had the only available copy of the book my book group is reading this month (Blindness by Jos√© Saramago). It’s actually a very nice little place, I’m so glad it is still there. I shall return, well in any case I’ll *have* to return to give the book back.

PS. I’m on a bit of a Lomo LC-A kick at the moment, I think I might be a bit addicted. I have so many photos to share. I’ll tag the bottom of the post to say which camera it is when it is not my main Canon.

It’s always fun to visit old haunts. That does look like a nice library.

Mmmmm, library. Always a calming place to hang out, as long as the word “law” is not in front of it.

I love your film pictures! They are immediately recognizable as film and have so much atmosphere.

This brings back so many nostalgic memories of my childhood library! Sniff. I should go back and visit, too. (Won’t be the same without the little yellow cards, though!) Lovely pictures.
