visiting Bristol

Taking advantage of our long weekend I went on a short trip to visit my sister on Bristol. She took me out to show me some of the places she likes, we always have fun when we get together :)

bristol_may10_002The Folk House cafe is tucked away off a main road in the Folk House adult education centre. The food was delicious.

bristol_may10_037On the same road there is a place that does bubble tea! So rare to find it. We both got Japanese Grape flavour, it was too sweet to finish all of it but it was still exciting to find it. I am wondering if I could make this and dial down the sweetness.

bristol_may10_009Bristol is packed with cool little handmade/artist/independent shops. Really handy for presents. I got a few things for myself and some gifts.

bristol_may10_010We stopped for some cocktails at The Wild Wood.

bristol_may10_022For dinner as a treat we went to The Rockfish where we had really really good fish. I had Sand Sole and my sister had Red Gurnard.

bristol_may10_023On the walk home we passed a Banksy.

bristol_may10_027Someone had pinned their art to the fence in a little exhibition.

bristol_may10_028This really cute tea hut was in St Andrew’s park. We stopped for a cup of tea.

bristol_may10_033We had bubble and squeak for lunch and then later a brownie at The Better Food Co‘s organic supermarket. It was excellent. The Bristolians are lucky to have such a great unpretentious place that isn’t overpriced.

Sounds like you had a lovely time. I lived in Bristol until last summer so that was a nice trip down memory lane – thanks!

Yum, all the food does look good. And I love that allotment picture– allotments are so cool.

They really have some good allotments there and you can see them quite well as they are on hills :)

Lovely! It’s nice that you and your sister get along well and can do things together. Are you guys close in age? I get along fine with my sister, but we have such drastically different tastes and interests that we wouldn’t be able to enjoy hanging out together for too long.

She is three years younger which I think is a good difference as it means we had different friends but could also hang out together doing similar things :)

Those street art shots are SO COOL. I’ve already gone back and looked at them like 5 times. What a cool place. I have to add that to my wander list.

It certainly is a prime street art place with really clever well thought out pieces. Berlin also has some great ones, you should go there too! :)

Love the pictures! I’ve never been to Bristol, you’ve made it seem like a magical place to go. It’s on my list. I am sooo hungry now, which is a problem as it’s 11:26pm. ;p

I love bubble tea too, I always get some when I’m in chinatown. Yum, tapioca balls!

Alice, way over here in Canada your pictures are just such a treat – I love the way you see the world and esp the little things you notice like Paddington Bear. Thank you for that refreshing peek after work!

Thanks for visiting, I hope to make it over to Canada perhaps next year if I can save enough :)

Wow. I need to get myself to Bristol. Not been in a long time. You have captured such lovely scenes… and that wave on the side of the building is amazing!
