The slight silence around here is because most free time is spent working on the house and unpacking. That second picture is the last room I have to do the flooring for – woo! Since taking that picture at the weekend it is already mostly done. I’ve completed the other rooms in the house though there are a few skirting boards that need to go in. When I lay the last floorboard I will be so happy.
The cats are settling in, they seem to like it here. It is very warm and quiet, and they are really enjoying climbing on all the moving boxes :)

We sold our house! We are so happy :) A move has been a long time coming, some folks might remember that a year ago we were trying to build an eco house and how it almost happened but then did not work out because there was an obscure covenant that needed paying off. That land was then sold, and we put our other little house on the market, and this time around we’ve been looking for a place to buy rather than build. A young couple bought our house and the whole sale went through very quickly. I hope they are very happy there, it is a lovely first home. We have also found a place to buy, we get the keys at the start of August, can’t wait! In the meantime we are staying with my dad which is really nice, it is so peaceful. The cats seem to be slowly adjusting to the move too, we covered his sofas in our blankets, partly to protect them but also so there would be familiar smells for the cats.

6. IPAD!! I have been loaned one and I love it. It’s my kind of gadget! I like to read lots of visual type sites about photography/design/cookery/art/gardening etc and this is perfect for that, much better than a computer. For the first time I am almost caught up with my RSS subscriptions. I am using the ‘Perfect RSS’ app which caches your feeds so you can read when not on a WIFI connection. My dilemma is about a case, there are so many ugly and expensive ones. The roll of fabric is there because I am trying to decide if I should make one.
7. Dinner at my mother’s house. Always nice! For dessert I brought over ice cream and made these brownie roll-out cookies dusted with a little bit of icing sugar. Tasty and I thought they were nicest the next day.
8. Pub. A crowd of us saying goodbye to a friend going back to Australia.

Apparently we are getting an Indian Summer this week. I am ready for Autumn and Winter now! Looking forward to the scarves, woolly jumpers, mulled cider, cinnamon, blankets, candles. I guess they will come soon enough.
