Lomo Berlin, my favourites of the rest

That’s the last of the Berlin pictures for this year. These were my favourites from the rest. I hope they were of interest! :)

Lomo Berlin, beach bar

In the summer these beach bars spring up around the rivers. You have sand, deck chairs, beach bums, palm trees, everything. We met up with some friends who had moved back to Berlin to have their baby who it was nice to meet, she was very cute. It was interesting also to hear about the general job situation, I know too from my cousin’s experiences that the employment situation in Berlin is really tough.

Something happened with some of these shots where they are partly one picture and partly another. I don’t know if that was me not winding on properly or if it is the developer’s issue but I like it.

Lomo Berlin, Friedenau

I have some Lomo pictures from Berlin too. This is almost the last bit of Berlin talk for this year :) The flat I stay in is in Friedenau so I know this area fairly well. I guess you could perhaps say it is kind of like the Upper West Side in New York? It’s a leafy mainly residential area with nice bakeries and neighbourhood cafés dotted around the place. In Berlin most people live in flats and I am always very impressed by how much effort seems to have been put into making these attractive.

In Berlin old flats you get a front set of flats that are on the streetside and a back set of flats with a garden in between, to get through to the back house and the garden you get corridors like this were people put their bikes. This is the corridor in the day when it is mostly empty, at night it would be packed full of bikes.

I have a few more Berlin Lomo pictures left which I will put up soon.

Berlin around the city

Hackesche Höfe, this is the alley and courtyard at Rosenthalerstraße 39.

East Side Gallery

Apartments.

KaDeWe cake

Waiting at Warschauer Straße to meet some friends.

It might be a bit touristic but it’s nice (and also a handy location) to sit at the bars near Friedrichstraße S-Bahn until late. The bar my friend is pointing to operates a stock exchange type paying system for the beer prices, so the prices rise and crash for each beer depending upon demand. They do a good Fammkuchen there, and good pommes. You can get a blanket for your knees if you are cold and there is a nice view of the boats and the station lit up at night.

Berlin outside the city centre

At Wannsee. The weather was very dark and overcast but not actually raining.

German hot chocolate :)

At Sanssouci in Potsdam. The weather was still so dramatic! I’ve been to Sanssouci in the winter but really it’s great to see it in the summer when you can really appreciate the plants.

The Botanic Gardens. The glasshouses are enormous, the past few years when I visited they were working on the top ones, this seems all finished now.
