Taking advantage of our long weekend I went on a short trip to visit my sister on Bristol. She took me out to show me some of the places she likes, we always have fun when we get together :)

The Folk House cafe is tucked away off a main road in the Folk House adult education centre. The food was delicious.
On the same road there is a place that does bubble tea! So rare to find it. We both got Japanese Grape flavour, it was too sweet to finish all of it but it was still exciting to find it. I am wondering if I could make this and dial down the sweetness.

Bristol is packed with cool little handmade/artist/independent shops. Really handy for presents. I got a few things for myself and some gifts.

We stopped for some cocktails at The Wild Wood.
My sister’s umbrella peeking out of her bag.

In Stokes Croft there is lots of interesting street art.

For dinner as a treat we went to The Rockfish where we had really really good fish. I had Sand Sole and my sister had Red Gurnard.
On the walk home we passed a Banksy.

The next day after hanging out at my sister’s we set out in the sunshine.

Someone had pinned their art to the fence in a little exhibition.
This really cute tea hut was in St Andrew’s park. We stopped for a cup of tea.

We had bubble and squeak for lunch and then later a brownie at The Better Food Co‘s organic supermarket. It was excellent. The Bristolians are lucky to have such a great unpretentious place that isn’t overpriced.

Then home :) Can’t wait to visit again!

My sister gave me a voucher for a mystery trip at the end of last year as a gift for my birthday which I was pretty excited about cashing in this weekend as she does great mystery trips and it is always fun to go on adventures with my sister.

Overnight I stayed at my sister’s new place in Bristol that she shares with a friend, it’s another great place (you can see some of her previous flats here and here). We didn’t actually have the damson jam as we couldn’t open the jar (haha, feeble!) so we had honey instead. Then we headed out on the train to Bath which is only a short ride away.

These are the Roman Baths, it was especially interesting to see these having just been to Rome. My favourite fact was that the street level next to the baths is now 4 meters higher than it was in Roman times.

We had morning tea in the Pump Room, very civilised.

Bath seems a very good place for cute little shops and cafes. While Bristol seems to have more of an alternative edge, Bath has so many pretty streets. We ate at the River Cottage Canteen, really good kippers and chocolate brownies.

The Royal Cresent.

Thank you for the fun adventure Rose! :)

We popped over to Bristol to see my sister and her boyfriend. The four of us went for lunch at the nearby St Werburghs City Farm Cafe, I had a pumpkin burrito and tabbouleh which was so very good. I want to go back there right now! Really delicious but also really healthy, you feel good afterwards. I also tried their spiced coffee which was great too. If you ever have the chance to go there then do! The building is like a hobbit home – a low round building with carved wood beams inside. The farm is also very cute and they currently have little piglets squeaking around.

Long time visitors to my site might remember some of my sister’s other places? This one sticks in my mind. Her current place is lovely, I like the bamboo floor. We did our knitting and nattered about what we want to do in Japan. The cat isn’t theirs, it comes from across the road and scrabbles on the window.

At night we popped out to the opening night celebration of Harry Blades & Angry Daves it is a new hair salon and clothes shop. It looks fabulous, I hope it is a big success! Brad who is the hair salon half is an old old friend of my sister. He cut my hair for years and years, truly he is the BEST hairdresser I ever had.
