Geffrye and The Goring.

Christmaspast

Geffrye

Afternoondeserts

Today in London, with my aunts and sister, I went to the Geffrye Museum who had a lovely (and free) exhibition of Christmas through the ages with a series of rooms set up in the style of each era of Christmas. They also had a nice restaurant where we ate. I had my first mince pie of the year, while eating it I made a wish as is traditional. I feel that the Christmas season has properly been started now!

Then later we went to The Goring to taste some deserts and have tea and champagne cocktails, all delicious. My family know how to live well ;) The Goring is lovely and if you are in London looking for a posh afternoon tea I recommend it.

Oxford.

This really bright autumn light of the past few days at noon-ish makes things look a bit unreal don’t you think? At the moment I am back and forth between Oxford and London like I am on elastic, currently I am in Oxford but back to London tomorrow! :)

Sunday in Notting Hill

Oncoach

My sister lives in London so whenever I can I head out to see her because we always have such a fun time :)

Vintagefair

We went to a vintage fashion fair that is normally in Lavender Hill but on Sunday it had relocated to an old theatre off Portabello Road in Notting Hill.

Vintagefairclose

We didn’t get anything for ourselves but we bought some lovely gloves for my aunt who’s birthday it is next weekend.

Pizzaportabellord

After browsing up and down Portabello Road market we stopped for pizza in the sun, such lovely weather.

And did some house oogling, it is like icing sugar isn’t it?

Hummingbridcakes

Speaking of icing sugar we picked up two cupcakes from the Hummingbird Bakery which specialises in American cakes, the main difference with British cupcakes is the buttercream frosting. I chose a red velvet cupcake and my sister a vanilla chocolate cupcake.

Hummingbridcakeseaten

We used a coffee stirrer to cut them in half so we could try half of each one :)

Hollandparktree

Then we laid in Holland Park shooting the breeze.

Hollandparktrees

More breeze.

Fingerpointing

Is there anything better than laying chatting in the park in the hot Autumn sun? I don’t think so. My sister got a personal call on her mobile from Nepal which impressed me, I mostly get calls offering me a ‘better’ deal on my phone bill :)

Hollandpark

Look how busy it was, and this was the quiet end of the park.

It is quite a crazy sight if you are used to a more spacious city!

Wholefoodcupcakes

Then we headed to Whole Foods which there is a UK branch of in Kensington. We were more window shopping rather than buying! I came away with just a yoghurt and a drink but if I had money I would have bought everything. It reminds me a little if the organic (bio) supermarkets in Berlin. So much yum.

The end to a lovely day. Today I woke up with an intense cold so I hope this post isn’t a little delierious :)

CrowdMBV2

I like these pictures I took on Saturday night at a show we went to in London; My Bloody Valentine at The Roundhouse. The Roundhouse is a great spacious venue with lots of levels so you can look at the people from above like this. Seeing a crowd as a whole block of humanity is pretty awe inspiring. During the show you could see a sparkle of light above the crowd from everyone holding up their camera phones and cameras, I guess like in the old days when people held up lighters. You start to see common characteristics within the crowd, like a lot of people are in their late 20s or 30s with a job in a creative industry or something :) Actually having said that, a lot of people looked like I would know them.
