Malmö

We took a short train ride over a bridge to Malmö in Sweden. The view from the train was great and passes by this wind farm.

Extra bike parking on this floating platform by the station. I was very impressed with the bike lanes and general bike provision both in Malmö and in Copenhagen, I can only imagine what it must be like to have huge wide cycle lanes! There were also many pretty upright type bikes.

We had beautiful weather walking around.

Why we came over on that day in particular day is that there was a band playing that we wanted to see. We had bought the tickets online in advance, Google Translate was very handy for helping us do this :)

As we had all day to explore before the show so we wandered around like the tourists we were. Again many great shops, I could have bought so many things in the Forum/Design Center. The day was beautiful so we spent a lot of time in the Slottsparken, Simon even had a sleep.

In the park was this very cute cafe selling nice organic food and drinks. Most people were sitting outside but we were very taken with the idea of having seats in the greenhouse so we sat in there.

Isn’t it cool! I’m filing this idea away should I ever have a big enough greenhouse.

As the sun set we headed back to the streets. Dinner was falafel in pitta from a shawarma place, really fresh and good.

Then we had some drinks. Good times ;) I was impressed that here and other places back over in Copenhagen they automatically gave me a glass of water with my wine, usually I need to ask for this.

We watched the show. The local supporting band seemed good, the main band have gone a bit more metal than is to my taste, we both liked their more experimental era, but still we were glad we went. I had wondered what the Swedish audience would be like but in fact the audience seemed exactly like we would get back home. On this whole trip I have been doing a lot of comparing I think? Probably because in some ways there is a lot in common with places I know well like Berlin and UK. Not that I could get more than a short impression of a place having visited so briefly but still it feels interesting to compare.

These guys were doing some projections from the back. Then after the show we hurried off to get the 00:22 train and no time at all we were back in Copenhagen. Felt pretty wild to return from a night out in another country.
